The Speaker of the House of Assembly in Edo State, Frank Okiye, has been tested positive for coronavirus.
This was revealed by the Deputy Governor of the State, Phillip Shaibu, during a press conference in Benin, the state capital on Wednesday.
Shaibu confirmed that Okiye is the recorded case announced earlier by the state government.
There are currently 46 cases recorded in Nigeria. Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has also gone into self isolation.
Obaseki had made close contact with his Bauchi State partner, Senator Bala Muhammed and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, who also has both been tested positive for coronavirus.
