Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed has advised Nigerians not to sell their votes, saying it is like “selling your fate.” He said this at a workshop organized by the National Broadcasting Commission( NBC) in Abuja on broadcast media coverage for the 2019 elections. The event was held on Saturday and tagged:’ Fake News, Hate Speech, Vote and PVC Buying,
The Information Minister, represented by Ms Grace Isu- Gekpe, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, said: “Selling your vote or PVC is like selling your fate and we should not allow ourselves to sell our fate. You know what that means when you do that.” Journalists were also advised to use their positions to work with the government in an effort to address the problem.
In the meantime, the acting Police Inspector General Mohammed Adamu, represented by Police Commissioner Kenneth Ebrimson, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to neutrality and fairness.
